Clutch does not begin to operate until the pedal is half way down.
Could there be air in the system?
I can't find the fluid resevoir, can it be topped up and bled, or is the system sealed?

Hello, I've got exactly the same problem with my clutch, can you tell me how much did you pay to get it repaired!
Since my renault dealer cannot do my car before 2 weeks, I will replace the hydraulic mechanism by myself, has anybody ever done this?
Any tips or comments would be great, thanks.

daxter, any problems doing this?? I guess I may have a similar problem, 1998 Espace, I would describe the problem as pedal stiff, not returning fully. If I release the short cable on the operating arm and push the linkage backwards (into the slave cylinder) and then replace the short cable, the clutch is o.k. again for a week or two.

Never had my clutch done yet as it works ok, the only problem is that the clutch does not return fully every time. The part costs £110 + vat, the labour time is about 4 hours, so I would think a main dealer would charge about £300 to £400. New part is an improvement, ie. is not sealed, and can be bled.

Hello
I have a 96 2,2 diesel espace with the described clutch pedal problem. Has anyone done any mods on this such as fitting a substitute slave cyl with a bleed nipple?? Does anyone know where the air gets in, master or slave cyl? Suggestions and ideas to get round this problem without paying Renault prices would be appreciated
