Peugeot 206 1.9 diesel injector pump stop solenoid

Post by jackmcl »

Does anyone know where I can aquire a replacement stop solenoid for the diesel injector pump for my Peugeot.
It's the DW8 engine also used in the Citroen berlingo van and a few other vehicles.
The stop solenoid in this instance is coded to the key transponder and acts as an anti-theft device, not allowing fuel through the pump if the correct keys are not used in the ignition.
To cut a long story short, i had to de-armour the pump and remove the stop solenoid - now I have issues trying to find a replacement (ideally one that doesn't have to be re-coded)
The trouble that I am having is that none of the Lucas/CAV type replacements I have tried so far have enough 'travel' to open up enough to let fuel through.
Having spoken to Lucas directly, they tell me that Peugeot (apparently) put their own solenoids onto these pumps, as they have more of a 'throw' on them.
Any more info that could help me sort this would be much appreciated! :)

I know it can be done as I've seen one (A DW8 de-amoured)

Although its possible they may have used the XUD pump and injectors as a work-around.

I know what problem you have now, you need a longer throw one. :? :? :?

No luck at either GSF or ECP i'm afraid!
It seems it is a more specialist part :?

Just had a thought (until you get more feedback)

What actually happens with a conventional solenoid fitted ? , perhaps you could get a longer 'pin' for it maybe.

Alternative (although not always possible, need to see immobiliser) you may just be able to use the existing one if you can get the electronics off it (so you are left with just the conventional solenoid)

Well - with some solenoids, (even when they are open), I have no fuel coming through at all as they just don't open far enough.
One solenoid I shaved a tiny tiny bit off the plunger, which allowed fuel to flow through, but wouldn't stop the engine running when de-activated! as it wouldn't close far enough to stop the flow!
The original solenoid was pretty much destroyed when I investigated a way to bypass the electronics (they really don't make it easy for you to do so!)

Could I ask how you went about this please? I need to do the same but don't want to scrap the pump!

The series 82-1001 to 82-1551 are for Peugeot and other engines. Click on the thumnails for these solenoids and you will get a large high resolution picture which should enable identification of the solenoid required.
Punp make and number should confirm it.

About halfway down this page is one option you might like to take.

Mike, that's for a Bosch. the DW8 normally has a Lucas and they're easier.

This is the general Lucas procedure:

Basically, all but one of the tamper-proof screw heads are quite accessible and they can be undone using a reverse-flute socket like this one:

Image

The one that is hard to get at can be got to by sawing away a corner of the armour. They're usually not that tight either.

The armour extends down the back side of the pump and under here will be found the immobiliser module. It is hard-wired to the stop solenoid.

I have no pictures of de-armouring a Lucas but if necessary I could take some.

Suffice to say, the Lucas cannot be de-armoured in-situ. It must be removed from the engine.
