Problems starting a renualt clio 2001 1.2 16 v anyone help?

I have a Renault clio 20011.2 16 v Expression with 50,000 miles.

Its been regularly serviced by renault, no major problems have occured.

Just recently the car wouldn't start in the morning or at all if exact.

Managed to start by jump starting a couple of times which cleared up the prob, even left for a time & the car restarted.

Left overnight & wouldn't start & now the 'engine management' light is constantly on !

Now when the key is turned - it just goes click click click..

Has anyone any experience of this type of issue with the same car model & year ?

If so what was the cure & how much ?

I would take it to renault but the car won't start & their diagnosis fees aren't cheap not to mention parts & labour etc, so don't want to take a chance, there must be something I can do ?

Try and borrow a battery charger, fully charge the battery and see how that goes. Likely the battery is failing if a jump start worked and the cold weather won't be helping.

If charging the battery works, get the battery and alternator checked while it is fresh, don't wait for it to happen again.
