51 Clio Brake Light

This week I was informed only one rear brake light was working (driver's side). I bought a bulb and replaced the passenger side bulb.. It still did not work. I then swapped the bulbs. Again the passenger side bulb would not work hence eliminating any possibility of the bulb itself being faulty. I changed the fuse although I later realised it was pointless as both lights worked off the same fuse. Finally I attempted to get rid of any corrosion on the contacts but to no avail.

The bulb certainly works because it lights up when the headlights are switched on.

Can anybody please sugest a cause and solution ? Thank you.

do the other lights work on the same side and do you have any interference with the rear side light and rear indicator? if so possible earth problem to the cluster
