I have a 98 Megane 1.6 8 valve.
It starts first time every time (now), the automatic choke keeps the car idling at around 1000 rpm. However, as soon as the car warms up the car will not idle at all. If I give the engine a couple of revvs before it cuts out it sometimes idles fine.
Any ideas?

Megane Idle Problem

Sounds like a stepper motor problem to me.
The steppermotor is the small electric gearmotor that sets the throttle bottom stop, and thereby the idle.
It actually works like an electrically adjustable stop screw.
These devices usually have a switch on the tip of the pushrod, to indicate the throtte has been released by the driver. If this switch fails, the engine management computer can not detect if the throttle has been released and then needs to set the idle.
Usually these devices are serviceable if you are a handyman.
A litlle TLC works wonders.
