Hi,
You will get a better response asking on a dedicated Renault forum....

http://www.renaultforums.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=218

Good luck :)

Happy New Year.

uncle buck, I see all you do is promote selwank's site without even attempting to answer.

In answer to the question, it sounds like it is losing compression, this could be down to may things, previous cambelt falure resulting in damaged valevs, cracked head, blown head gasket, could be many things really, even a faulty fuel pump.

Get the fuel pump checked and have it compression tested.

If it was a VW diesel your symtoms are that of a faulty mass airflow meter. Could be the same for your frogwagon.

I'll take that as a compliment then ehh....

Yes I do advise people to go over to the Renault Forum....whats wrong with that?

Although this forum has other sections it is predominantly Citroen based...some question that are asked in this section will just remain unanswered & obviously people will get a better response to their question asking it on a dedicated forum where there may be others that have suffered a similar problem.

Common sense I would have thought....but obviously you don't agree

If the question posed is not getting any response I don't see any harm in redirecting them to somewhere where they will get the necessary result.

It is at least a positive response. If they don't get an answere here they are going to search wider anyway. I'm sure a lot of the FCF members are also signed up to other forums too - I make no secret that I am, although this is my #1 site overall there are others that are potentially more use to me as a C5 owner, I just like it better here.

As myglaren says, other forum may be a better bet, re the cit/ren balance. I am reg'd at both, plus 306cabrioletclub.co.uk,smart o.c. and pug central (tho' why the sus fee on the latter, as all the rest are free?). So whats wrong with pointing to another forum- thats how I found out about 2 of the ones I use. Thank goodness they're here, and all power to those who can be bothered to run them!

I know it's nearly 2 months since the first post, but I thought I'd mention that my 2001 1.9DCi used to suffer from sudden loss of power until I rebooted (maybe they let Microsoft write the ECU software?)
I'd be driving along the motorway and suddenly the screen would show "fuel injection system faulty" and it would drop into limp home mode until I rebooted.
Cost me a fortune in tyres as I seemed to catch every nail on the hard shoulder!
I think an ECU update by the dealer may have resolved the issue.
Lovely car, managed to clock up 76K miles in 2 years. Turbo had to be replaced after a year though, thankfully at Renault's cost, which was good of them as I'd been a tad lax on the service intervals...

Directing to another forum is one thing, but doing so over and over without ever answering the questions is another.

And Renault Fartrums is run by arrogant idiots.

Just trying to help people find an answer to their problem...I'm new to Renault's myself so I don't want to advise anyone on a subject I'm not proficient or familiar with.

That's your personal opinion & you are entitled to think that if you want, but I think it's unfair of you to "label" the forum just because of your experience there!

Cheers.
