Laguna 11 plumes of blue smoke

Unread post by bethsdaddy3 »

Hi there , my first post so please take it easy!
I own a 1.9 dci , 2001 fnq engine with garrett turbo , 99000 miles , the last 30000 have been mainly short journeys as my wife uses it in her district nurse job ie stop start all day long.
The car had a new turbo fitted at 69000 miles , and until recently has ran ok, the problem now is the car is burniong oil , and pumping blue , smelly smoke out for all to see. I had a mechanic look at it , with some turbo experience , and he reckons he bypassed the turbo to try and eliminate it , and reckons now that engine wear is the problem. The car runs fine , and when it gets hotter after a mile or 2 the smoke subsides, a lot .
Any clues would be greatfully recieved.
Thank you.

Could it be the EGR valve leaking?

I don't know much about it but I've read that these engines can draw engine oil through the EGR.
