This may sound like an ad but honestly it's not. After going to my Local halfords for a number of years for various obscure parts for my belegured french cars about 8 months ago they offered me a trade card.
Halfords critera is that you need to be an engineer who works cars, not a business or mechanic!
Having used it lots heres a rough example of price differences
Shelf Price / Trade price
16.99 / 6.49 wiperblade set
42.00 / 68.00 front vented disk set
9.99 / 3.45 1 ltr own brand brake fluid.
12.99 / 2.45 air filter
Halfords also gurantee thier trade price can't be beaten locally or give you the difference. Trade card is valid on parts, accesories, tools and lubricants. There is no fixed rate discount it depends what your buying and whether it is own brand or 3rd party and they can get most parts for most cars including exhausts, my store is about 3 hours from order to stock for most items (i think they link in to Dingbro in my area).
Next time yuor in ask at the parts counter to apply for a trade card. Takes about 5 mins and costs nothing to get.

I can agree with that, a family member of mine works for them and asked me if I wanted one as I did the servicing of 2 Citroens in the family, so got the card even though I'm not a mechanic or such and I've had it a couple of years now without issue.
Filters and such for literally pence, fantastic, really does bring the 5k service from about £25 (not inc oil) to less than £10 (not inc oil), cant moan at that.
