2001 Clio engine warning light

Unread post by drpau »

A few months ago when driving girlfriends 51 reg clio (1.2 16v 45k) on motorway the engine management light came on and the cars performance was limited (think to about 3000 rpm), it sounded a little like it was missing or spluttering when I pulled over on hard shoulder to stop, quite chuggy and you could feel the 'chuggyness' through the gear lever. I switched of the engine restarted and it was the same, I left it for 5 mins and just before phoning RAC tried again and the problem had disappeared. I put it down to one of those funny gremlins but today her in doors was using the car and the same symptoms have reoccured and again, when she switched it off and on again all was fine. She also said that service light came on as well (Im not sure if that happened last time), both the engine management light and 'service' light went out upon restart. Im thinking its going to be some kind of duff sensor which needs replacing, what does everyone think?

Cheers

Paul

Could be a problem that is resetting any amount of sensors when you switch off the engine. Personaly I'd getit checked out ASAP.

Clio Cutting out

Hi, did you get a resolution for this as I had exactly the same situation with my wife's car.
Cheers

If Stupidity got us into this mess, then why can’t it get us out?
