renault megane imobilzer code from renault ?

Unread post by zxb29 »

Hi all

i went to renault on tues to get the 4 digit code to disarm the imobilzer....
first time i went guy said to me costs 15 quid but i need log book and driving license

when i went in on the tues the dealers were telling me that renault do not give this code out at all and they are not allowed to.

Is this true ? or am i being fobbed off!

thanks

If you can prove that you're the owner, I don't see what the problem is. Being a stealer, maybe they want to give you a more expensive solution to your problem... 8)

lets put it this way ,if the car belongs to you and the code belongs to the car ,you have a legal right to ask for it and they have to provide you that code for free .

threaten for legal action ,it usually works

Surely the code was given with the car when new ? it which case i dont see that its renaults problem that it has been misplaced.why wouldnt they be able to charge an 'administration' charge to get it for you ?
