93 Trafic diesel radiator

Unread post by skes »

Are these engines over cooled? by the fan, i ask this because even after a run of about 20 mins the rad seems quite cool to the right, i suspect it might have a blockage anyway because i took out the bleed plug at the top of the rad and nowt came out, BUT the temperature gauge still reads mid way.

try some radiator flushing agent in the header tank for a few days, then flush out using hose pipe, new anti freeze and see what happens.

I took the rad off and gave it a good hosing through, it seems clear, it must have been that leak crap i put in, anyway i took it to get repaired and he said it was buggered, repair would probably only last a month or so, so my £20 repair has turned into £65+ for a new core..oh well.

Thinking of fitting an Electric fan instead of the noisy original.
Anyone fitted one of these? even to something other than a Trafic, would I gain a bit of power and maybe better fuel consumption?

Thanks

That is an old one Skes. Any pics? I had a 96 2.1 diesel. Never overheated and the fans very rarely came on at all.
