No power R19

Hello all,
I have a renult 19 1991, Getting on a bit now but has been the most reliable car i know of.
On the was to work yesterday My girlfriend said the car wouldn't top 25mph even with her foot flat to the floor. It went a bit faster with the choke pulled out.
She has been using redex petrol treatment which made the car run better but now that's not working.
Any suggestions? [?]

get the top of the carb and make sure its not full of carbon and that the throttle can open easily, if it is covered get yourself some carb cleaner and give it a good blast, then keep the starter turning and give it plenty of gas to get it started again.
check the throttle cable and make sure its tight.
and the old favorite, make sure that the carpet isnt backed up behind the accelerator pedal!
