Renault 19

Unread post by j_roc »

Afternoon all - I have been offered for sale a Renault 19 (hatchback) 1400cc 1990 on a H plate (no tax or test) for £45 quid. Having never bought a 19 before, what are the achillies heel problems on this car? I dont really need another car, but its like a drug - when you start buying cheap cars, you cant stop! Any pointers are much appreciated.

As for the Reno 19. Same as all older cars. Suspension worn, oil leaks. coolant problems etc. What kind of milage has it done?

What I was wondering was has the 19 any well known rust patches? The mileage is 122k. Its sat under a tree since March 2002, without running or moving. I know that I can get it running where it is, but what I was wondering is are they any good? 19's I mean. And yes, j_roc = Trailer park boys - know what im saying?

You could always find yourself and the car in the middle of a rubbish 'o' cane. But saying that there's and old one on a G reg up the road from me being run daly. Think it's the same engine as it's got 1.4 on the back. Right dog rough but still going. Paint flat and smokey engine but its all there.

Is that you Mr James Lahey? Where is Randy, you drunk bast**d - Look, Look it's butch cassidy and the sundance cheesburger. When I drove past this morning on my way to work, the 19 was still there, so I guess by the weekend I will prob buy it. As at the moment Faye is driving the Mondeo (cant say im happy about that) [V], and I thought that she could drive the Renault - as I want my Mondeo back, and she aint gonna get her hands on the Escort or the Xantia.

Hey the Sierra was a great work horse in its day. You'll probably have less probs with spare parts aswell.

To tell the truth I have always been a Ford man, but every now and again its good to have a change - hence me buying the Citroen a few months ago. And the fact that the Sierra was only £575.00 with a full Ford serv hist and the ultra low milaege was to good a thing to pass up.
