Laguna 1.8RT 1995 starting problems

Unread post by Mark D »

Driving along today when the engine suddenly cut out. Engine turns over OK and there is a spark from the ignition coil lead but not from spark plug via distributor. Could the problem lie with the distributor/rotary arm?

Hi
It is either the rotor arm or distributor cap. You might aswell replace both as they're not to costly... I had this happen to me on my current Laguna and a Honda Civic that I once owned..

Just found out that the cam belt broke[:(]I think damage may have been done to the valves. I had this happen to a Nova years ago and got away with no damage. Does anyone know whether Lagunas are that lucky, and what signs to look for if the valves are damaged? The engine does seem to turn over much slower. I think I may have to scrape the vehicle as its done 186K and is worth about £100.[:(]
