Renault Megan saloon classic r dti 1.9cc 4 dr. 'W' reg. engine ID LAON (LA0N)
almost all of my electrics have gone haywire. Whirring, buzzing, beeping almost continuously, and windscreen warning light and coil warning light flashing on apparently randomly.
My garage is quoting about 295 (inc. VAT) to purchase this essential controller. Is it the uc-bic? or ecu - I'm not sure.
I would like advice from people who have solved these problems themselves.
How difficult is it to replace this board?
I know I will have to connect it to the garages diagnostics so that the computer can be re-calibrated (whatever).
At the moment I can't use: direction indicators, wipers, key remote, door locking, rear window heater, hazards, radio, diesel flap locked.
The working bits are: headlights, washer, clock, door open warning, lights on warning, seat belt unfastened warning.
Renault Megan classic ucbic (ecu)??

quite a few meganes are now suffering from fuse box failure.the trouble with renault is once the fuse box is fitted the ecu needs to be reset to allow the engine immobiliser to work.the last one i did was about £270 for the fuse box and then the dealer charge for coding!very expensive job in the end!

OK check the fuse /relay box for water damage / check the battery earth / then check the actual earth for the computer its self this has caused many with faults to waste money on another ECU , its french its made with built in faults like the bulkheads drains with those flaps that block up and pour water all over the fuse/relay box giving the dealers another few hundred pounds profit ,
Get a meter and just check the continuty of the connections concerned !

This thread was last used 12 years ago, probably the cars fixed or scrapped by now.
