Re: Electric Vehicles: What have you spotted?
There is a negative thread...I spy an ugly SUV...yes I started it in my less enlightened days on the back of seeing a large Lexus with a very in your face front end...nothing like the grace and beauty of the new Ford Explorer
Talking about an "in your face front end" can't beat the Americans
Posted on one of those above 2 threads!

Neil

Both have faded into obscurity last post on the Ugly thread 24th Aug 2021, and the good looking thread 28th Aug 2023I spy an Ugly SUV (born February 17th 2018)
viewtopic.php?p=566505#p566505Yes in the literal wilds of Northumberland I spotted one of these. For educational purposes, and who knows someone may actually like it, I give you the ugliest front end since the Citroen H Van....and I love the Citroen H Van. It's all subjective of course, and it could grow on me.....
There is also a positive thread which Zelandeth started as possibly an antidoteGood looking modern Cars (born February 26th 2018)

From some angles, it reminds me of the Renault 4. And it's just about as practical and Tardis-like

Re: Electric Vehicles: What have you spotted?
Things move on, and on October 14th at the Paris Motor Show the 2024 Renault 4 makes its debut.
There should be plenty to chew on in the Electric Vehicles What's Available thread, and the youtube walkrounds and opinions from the journalists will flow through accordingly from the show debut.
Bit of an advanced tease from Renault

Not all new vehicles are SUV's. A first for the thread BMW I5 Tourer (aka Estate in former times)
Four doors an suitably long from the side but no pic. BMW tell you about it here though

Re: Electric Vehicles: What have you spotted?
At last an EV that looks half respectable, shame it had to be a BMW but at least they make it look half decent!!

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Re: Electric Vehicles: What have you spotted?
Yes they are commonplace now of course, but the simple thread keeps trundling on and will do as long as a bit of creativity remains active, and there are always a new crop of models to spot. Always firsts for the thread, and even those laggards Toyota, Ford and Honda are bringing out new stuff. A lot of it is formulaic of course, the design constraints of producing large medium and small boxes mean that not many are distinctive enough to say that's a maker X or that's a Maker Y.
A lot of the design difference come in the lighting front and back where the designers can go wild not just EV of course, this is the case regardless of the rather insignificant element of what fuel powers the car. Very few entries get posted in the thread "good looking Modern Cars" and suggestions to post in that thread are always welcome, again regardless of power train. here...
This photo is probably the first on the thread of this particular model from Toyota. It is in the category of "not sure what make that is" as its not that distinctive, and probably not universally liked by those who appreciate the smooth lines of saloons and coupe's or like a little hatchback, but it is 2024 and the new car provision in general is morphing towards the box on wheels shape like it or not.

A couple of new ones coming up from Renault are distinctive...their recreations of the Renault 4, and the Renault 5. I like them. Ditto the MG 4 is similarly distinctive, nothing like a retro MG of the past. The Mini also retains a distinctive look where you can easily still identify it, but again the dewy-eyed view from the past colours many views. Not had a single post since August 2023... If anyone has anything to offer in October 2024, be my guest

It does 0-62mph in 3.6 seconds (Twin Motor Performance AWD model). No it isn't a Porsche, Lamborghini, or a Ferrari, it's a small SUV from Volvo..

Like the look of that, the conversion looks to be a bit cumbersome.
Did a quick search and dug up a MX3 conversion example here

Re: Electric Vehicles: What have you spotted?
An electric Clio.
I was walking home, almost there, with two heavy bags of shopping, always get too much for comfort. Car pulls up and woman insists on giving me a lift home.
Drops me off and says that she lives in the next street (where my eldest lives) and where I would have walked through anyway. Very nice lady. Noticed her accent and asked if she was Australian. Nope, South Ifrican! A mistake I have made before.
Wasn't until she drove away that I noticed it was electric.
Too short a trip to have much of an impression apart from being difficult enter and exit, hampered as I was by the heavy bags.
