Its a quirky naming which may well not travel to Europe, but the car has a very good chance. The Great Wall Ora "Good cat" EV

It certainly looks better coordinated than its sister above and I think it will do well although they may change the name to something more suited to the western markets. So are there any cats they might use which haven't already been used? How about a Manx or a Leopard?

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

The Ora "Punk Cat" , I do hope makes it to production in spite of VW's faux protestations and in reality how likely is VW likely of winning a legal battle in China? yes Zero. I hope it makes it into Europe too.
More please.....as well as being boring and conservative with new EV designs, Legacy auto's names are equally unimaginative. VW's ID3 ID4 etc BMW's i3, iX etc, Stellantis just clagging an e on existing names, Jaguar perversely calling their ICE the e-pace, and their Electric the i-pace.
Anyway, back to interiors, from the French not sure if it was standard trim or an add on accessory, but modern car "cockpit" designers should be thankful the in-car cassette player has been superseded, as built-in in tape storage would have curtailed some of the huge cross cabin screens.

Another Chinese Car with an odd name the Wuhling Hongguang Mini EV Cabriolet will arrive in Europe with the nameThe Ora Punk Cat had its name chosen in an internet consultation. There were six name options: elf cat, punk cat, noble cat, Persian cat, royal cat, and big orange cat. Of the four vehicles Ora currently sells, three are named after cats: Good Cat, White Cat, and Black Cat. Auto Shanghai 2021 brought another one apart from the Punk Cat: the Lightning Cat, a smaller Panamera when it comes to design.

I'm saddened they didn't consider calling it 'The Bagpuss', or maybe 'The Lion-O' or 'The Cheetara'. Maybe one of the other manufacturer's might like to use my idea ?

I wonder if Rita Ora will sue them like the French girl tried to sue Renault with the Zoe.

Funny you should mention that Chris, SWMBO is not a British native and I'm sure I have mentioned her heritage before, as a result of that heritage we have a charming capping to our shed gable:

Are you sure you haven't already raised a glass or two Neil?
Odd that it is the right way up in the original post yet got twisted in your quote before you corrected it!!
Interestingly I'm advised by SWMBO that the true meaning is nothing to do with alcohol!!

Re: Interiors and Dashboards (interesting and awful!)
Kia-Ora was an orange drink in a small carton (with a straw), sold in virtually every British cinema from at least the 1950s - usually from a lady with a tray of snacks . . . and a torch.
Rumour has it there was a division of the AA who also patrolled cinema auditoria.
Also armed with a torch, they would cast a watching eye over back row couples, with the moral reprimand
"Ay, Ay - None of that!"

I've revived the "Car names what are the best/worst" thread with a Rudyard Kipling cat name.

Re: Interiors and Dashboards (interesting and awful!)
That is where I first came across it Chris, I remember it well. There used to be Kia-Ora signs all over the snack bars at football grounds too but that has no bearing on its original meaning. I have been reliably informed (and lets face it who am I to argue?white exec wrote: 24 Apr 2021, 12:41 Kia-Ora was an orange drink in a small carton (with a straw), sold in virtually every British cinema from at least the 1950s - usually from a lady with a tray of snacks . . . and a torch.

Re: Interiors and Dashboards (interesting and awful!)
I remember it was of Maori origin but couldn't remember so looked it up.
Kia ora (M?ori: [kia ??a], approximated in English as / ?ki?? ???r? / KEE-? OR-?) is a M?ori-language greeting which has entered New Zealand English. It translates literally as "have life" or "be healthy", and is used as an informal greeting equivalent to " hi " or " hello ", or an expression of thanks similar to " cheers ".

Well well, what you learn in this forum
Loved the back-story to Kia Ora...
