I would add, if you have space for a project, get an un MOT'D one for scrap value. Jim's got a guide to repairing rams etc.. I believe everything is obtainable and/or repairable by someone with ability.

They appear on here reasonably regularly.. There was the blue one that looked actually really quite nice that had no MOT that went very very cheap (£300 ish?) We let one go with a full ticket but in need of spheres and paintwork for £325.. keep your eyes peeled..

That's true Mike, I think I've worked out how to fix most of it now..

I wonder if BL Autos still have that rusty one available?

That would be a potential project...

All I want is the gearbox Mark...

If you see anyone offering a gearbox over there or want an auto inn exchange then let me know  I would appreciate it..

I don't even need a good 'box, just the castings as I have a complete innards from one available so a failed one will be good...

I'll be rebuilding it before use anyway...

looks like one for sure :).....been looking at a 98k MOT fail car as well

?? What parts do I need that are unique to the V6 Xantia....I'm on a mission to build my source list

So, assume I have a 2ltr.....and I have the engine/box from a 406 Coupe (or is it better to get a car for inter-coolers ect....)

Also, as French cars are not out of the sights as I would like/need a rot free shell that has not seen any salt.
What do I need for a R/L conversion from a UK donor, will the donor have to be a V6 for sub-frame ect, for instance or just a HDI ??

Also, let me say again, thanks for the help guys...

@Mike, PM seen and understood mate....

Sticky, at the moment they're all difficult questions....

You will need the engine mounts plus inner wing mount, a cat, an exhaust system and if the Activa is early, a set of discs and calipers from a V6 or 110 HDi or 2.1TD or late Activa to uprate the front brakes (essential).

You will need a Xantia V6 engine loom, a V6 hydraulic pump and a V6 steering pressure regulator (preferably complete V6 rack) and associated pipework, V6-specific handbrake cable guides, a V6 rad, fans and cowling, V6 front strut Hydractive pipes...

V6-specific aircon pipery...

V6-specific LHM return piping..

V6-specific header tank and cooling system hoses...

A V6-specific rear bumper...

That's just for starters... There will undoubtedly be a myriad of small bits needed.

That's why I have a V6 donor here. It's far more than just an engine swap...

In fact to do a list like this is a good exercise...

LHD to RHD should, on the face of it will need complete dash, heater, rack, looms, cables and a fair old stock of smal bits. Donor essential I'd say...

Wouldn't an LHD to RHD conversion need some cutting of the bulkhead and other mods or are they the same?

Mike, I believe the shells are the same, having spotted the cutout for the steering column is on both sides when I've either had the carpets and/or dash out...

I cant imagine the difference would be hugely massive in any case and surely it would make sense of a maker to make the shells the same?

Sticky, I've refined my shopping list for a V6 conversion a bit and posed it in my blog here:

V6 Conversion Shopping List

I'll be keeping that one up to date. I have already added a couple of items...

I don't think it would although an ES9J4S engine would be nice but against that, you have multiplexed wiring to contend with and more cats than Battersea Dog's Home...

It's the specific hydraulic bits you need too..

I'm quite frankly quite astonished as how much is different between the 2.0 TCT and V6 already...

Given that's about a mile from our kid's house , I probably know who's selling it, or he does and I bet I could get a few quid off..
