Hi all, I am new to the forum & was just wondering what general problems any Megane 2 owners have encountered. My car is a 3/2004 2.0L manual 5 dr Dynamique with 23,000km on it. So far I have had a battery malfunction, a small leak above the drivers side door (I assume from the sunroof) a mysterious rattle coming from the passenger door??, a grinding brake disc, which even though replaced after re-call is faulty again & auto lights that operate with no consistency, sometimes turning on, on a bright sunny day! Aside from old Cits, Pugs & Reggies the only newer cars I have had have been SAAB's, Pugs & Citroens & I have never experienced so many small things wrong in any of them. Have I just got the Friday car or are their people out there with similar experiences?? Any comments would be welcomed! [:)]
PS Its not all doom & gloom! I must mention that aside from those niggles the car is great, I love the looks & it "feels" solidly built. **** steering but great touring car (except for the small space in the back they call a boot!)
Seems to turn more heads than our 2CV & I love the sunroof! [:D]

My mums megane scenic is a 1998 1.6 model which shes owned from new. Its been the biggest pile of junk the family has EVER owned!
The list of problems is enormous some examples are:
Twin sunroof motor packing up cost £1000
ECU failure cost £1000
New transponder keys could not be sorted by renault, there is now a hole in the new ECU to stop the immobiliser working cost £500
Both driveshafts gone cost £250
Every wheel bearing cost £hundreds....
This is all on a car with 50,000 miles on the clock and regularly serviced. Every MOT seems to cost at least £500.
The rear wheel arches are now covered in rust. This SHOULD NOT happen on a 1998 car.
To add insult to injury the starter motor packed up earlier in the week. You can sometimes get it started which we did last night only to be driving round with clouds of steam out of the exhaust. The severe temperatures, bubbles in the expansion bottle and extreme water loss can only be one thing. Head gasket.
The answer from Renault UK on this lot............ Something like a £50 cheque.
My mum is now in the market for a new car and will not be buying a renault. I cant see how people put up with such problems on new cars.
