Renault Trafic Timing Belt (L Reg)

Unread post by skes »

Anyone familiar with one of the above? (2.1 Diesel, LWB Hightop Camper)
I'm about to do a six week tour of France and Spain and i'm think maybe i should change the Timing belt and tensioner before i go, am i being a bit premature? it's done less than 52,000 and is a 94 i think, is it recommended to change the tensioner at the same time?
It looks a straight forward job (except i dont have belt tension checker) famous last words :-)
Thanks skes.

Despite the low mileage, the belt is likely to be 9 years old. Well past retirement age.
So - change it now.
For the cost of the tensioner, I'd do that at the same time.

Hi it's me again, i've just ordered the belt and tensioner from GSF for under 45 quid, but it doesn't include the little idler pulley and they dont stock it.
Does this need to be changed too? (£26 from Renault) it looks like the same pulley as on the tensioner, even Renault dont include it in the belt kit (belt and tensioner)
Thanks skes
