Someone that was connected to my family , no names mentioned , decided against advice to get one( the cashcow) , 3 months into there ownership said person of no name mentioned then complained about this horrible noise , said person then took it to qwik fit , which was also done against advice , they advised said person to take it back to where they were slowly paying for it ,(if you know what im saying) only for the place it came from to then inform this person , it needed a new chain plus everything else that went with the full kit , it had a ready had this done according to the cars service history , which i explained certain garages will fabricate history's, which this person whom ignored all advice then told the place they were buying the car from not to do it , now the car is up for parts as they broke down with the engine eating itself on a motorway exit .... moral to the story , advice is free , ignorance is very expensive. I was going to get one of these cars till I dug around and saw so many horror story's about a certain engine type, people laugh at French cars and ive always wondered why i got my fist french car 25 yr ago. Then went back to ford , 5 yr later went back to French, stuck with them every since , cheap to run , plenty of parts available, plus there like your best old pair of shoes .

Had chance at last to get a good look at the blue car and get it emptied, including reversing the dash cam installation.

My optimism has vanished, having had a good look at the sill. Not looking too bad at the front (where the door must have shouldered the brunt) but opening the rear passenger side door there's quite a deformation to the sill. Hard to get decent pictures

Frame the picture, title it Diana and sell it to the Tate!! :-D

For those that are half asleep on a Sunday morning the reason for the title is two fold:
Spoiler: show
Diana Dors
Spoiler: show
Destroyed In A Nasty Accident
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

In 2015 our C4 clipped a high kerb which dented a sill in the middle. It cost about £600 to be repaired. As it was around 1 year old we had our Citroen dealer bodyshop repair it to maintain any warranties.

Provided there is no other damage which you have not yet seen, it looks as if the sill needs sorting and 2 doors so an insurance repair might still be viable. Often though repaired cars are never the same and replacement can be a better option.

Good to know rough order of magnitude on costs, thanks Paul 😁

Fingers still crossed for it to "live another day", just a waiting game till it's picked up (Friday) and a judgement made.

Think another Diana might come into folks memory also involving a nasty accident.

Kitch put up a short video a few days ago about what happens when a 'low value' car gets hit and what insurers may do with it - as this has just happened to him. It's worth keeping tabs on your car if it goes to Copart as it might vanish out of your grasp without much warning if they 'mislaid' your request to try and keep it.

Funnily enough I watched that video last week!

Yes, I'm very much reliant on them remembering a out the buy back option - they've cc'd me on an email internally between a couple of them, so it's give me a few names to chase next week! :)

Idle "thinking aloud" variously follows.

508 SW Vs 308 SW dimensions:
https://www.carsized.com/en/cars/compar ... 14-estate/

508 SW is 24 cm longer, but gives up 50 litres boot space to the 308 SW. Not much in them size wise really!

Am hopeful the longer car but smaller boot equates to more passenger space (but not found comparable rear legroom dimensions as yet)

My understanding is the 508 suspension is familiar to me from the C5 (but obviously with springs rather than hydro pneumatics!) and a good deal more complex than the 308 struts and rear beam. Hopefully to the benefit of good ride comfort if to the downside of more bushes wanting changing! :)

Trying to confirm if 2.0 manual HDi 508 manage to hit the same emissions sweet spot and so get the £20 / £35 road tax bracket (depending on year)

Edit - yes:
2.0 BlueHDi (150bhp) GT Line 5d (31 Mar 2017 - 31 Mar 2018) £200.00
2.0 BlueHDi (150bhp) GT Line 5d (1 Feb 2015 - 31 Mar 2017) £20.00
Says Parker's:

Roundabouts must be a thing this week. Today we were out in the 308sw, blue colour identical to yours, waiting to go straight ahead at a roundabout in the left side of our road. All the roads and the roundabout do not have 2 lanes but are just wide enough for 2 cars. The wait was quite a while due to traffic and then a gap came and as we set off somebody in a soft top BMW from our road overtook us and turned immediately left, missing us by a few feet. If the 1.5 hdi had been able to accelerate quicker we might have needed an insurance claim.
