It's a tough call between the Alfa Romeo 1600 GT, the Bristol 603 S, and the shinier of the two Austin Somerset A40s, so I'll settle for the 1992 Aston Martin Virage Vol-au-vent auto

There have been a lot more entries since I posted this catalogue and I've now changed my choice to Lot 478:

Re: If you could have any one , which would you pick?
My original choice remains firm but this one piqued my interest:
For the right price, despite being a proper mongrel, it could be a lot of fun
I wonder what the original creator was on when it was created? Maybe the same stuff as me when I had my surgery

Re: If you could have any one , which would you pick?
There's an awful lot of fine cars in that auction I'd be happy with, but I'll have to settle for the 1966 Aston Martin DB6 Vantage now

If I had one, I'd only need to nip across the road from my place to have it servicedbobins wrote: 31 Oct 2025, 21:22 There's an awful lot of fine cars in that auction I'd be happy with, but I'll have to settle for the 1966 Aston Martin DB6 Vantage now![]()

Time for another browsing game, the cars start on page 2:

Only one option for me, always wanted one but will never be able to afford to run or maintain it, but what an engine!!

It'd have to be the 2001 MV Agusta MV750 F4 for me. I remember seeing one at the NEC when they first came out and they were in a class of their own in the looks department

I would (if I can fit in it) go for lot 213, the TVR 400SE.

Re: If you could have any one , which would you pick?
For me I think lot 209, the Lancia Thema.
I would probabaly fall out of love with it pretty quickly though. Take an engine designed for a low, mid engined, legendary rwd sports car, turn it sideways, put in a biggish thin metal saloon body, front wheel drive in an age of unpredictable radial ply tyres and see what happens.....hmmm. Interesting. Take it out on twisty mountain roads in the rain and it might answer the 'wonder what I'll die of?' question.
(The pre GM contemporary SAAB 9000 shared a floorpan with the Thema and the Aero version was just about as quick as the Lancia 8.32. Based on my 9-5 experience and having driven a 9-5 Aero I suspect the SAAB was a much more useable car. Plus the SAAB bodies had much more impact protection for the US market)
Lot 207, the Lancia Beta is a strong candidate, a sort of Italian Reliant Scimitar, and those orange seats would be excellent. Chances are it would keep me up at night as I listened to it rust so as I can only have one the Thema pushes the Beta out of contention.

Re: If you could have any one , which would you pick?
Excellent choice Richard but it looks like a bidding war is on: https://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/ ... 78#p854978
I had the third member of the trio on that floorpan The Fiat Croma Turbo and it was a brilliant executive express but I too preferred my Lancia Beta Convertible over that. However the later Lancia Delta HF Turbo capped them both for Italian brilliance!!

Re: If you could have any one , which would you pick?
Time for another head scratching session. I had a problem picking today, not because there were too many options but because nothing really jumped out at me!!
https://www.i-bidder.com/en-gb/auction- ... ine-c10040
So this is my choice:
