I'd say yes Husky and just as important, arrest the rust and make sue it can't spread to more critical parts of the infrastructure... Rust is like butter: it spreads...

I'd be looking to get a lot of rustproofing goo spread all around its undercarriage - something I plan to do on mine during this spell of warm'ish weather...

I'd definitely agree.

I'd also say: don't be surprised if once you set too it with angle grinder wire brush that the actual bit to be repaired is a good amount larger than what you can see to start with!

E.g. thus was smaller area affected than you've described, look how far it actually needed!

Reminds me of an old joke from Covid times: 'My bins go out more often than I do...'

Grey 308 SW, this is the MOT advisory's "slight misting"
Misty shocker
Misty shocker
Actually happy to have this brought to my attention only as an advisory.
Wet from top to bottom, and indeed moistening the end of the trailing arm beneath it. Very glad to be changing it.

New items are TRW and pretty reasonable £34 each from Autodoc.

Next up was Sarah spotted a mysterious "bubble" in the underseal, and then looking closer, another couple of much smaller ones.
Underseal bubbles
Underseal bubbles
Popping them one an air bubble but the other two wet inside.

Caught it early but definitely needed treatment, again just a picture for now, waffle to follow :)

And now, waffle!

Ground back with powerfile, fortunately no holes, just bit of surface rust. Cleaned up then treated with phosphoric acid. Then brush painted grey primer.

Few more damper swap images:

Old is standard pitch M10 (but with a less common 16mm nut)

Damper alloy top mounts were very aluminium oxide crusty, so wire brushed and quick squirt of silver paint.

Top mounts also modified with M5 tapped hole and screw to replace this:

New version:

Red rubber grease to help bump stop slip in. Also excellent and sticking all the swarf from the bolt mod. D'oh!

Thank you!

It was nice to catch this as a "small job" rather than unearthing something borderline terminal! (Albeit hopefully unlikely with a fresh MOT)

Another car job followed, but only part completed. Here's a couple of "teaser images"' and more tomorrow when I hopefully finish it off.

Number plate off and possible tow bar loom to go in ? :)

Number plate off: yes, but towbar (and wiring) already fully functional :)

The answer is an odd failure (and an odd fix) - unhelpfully I've painted it with a bit of the grey primer too.

Well when you say waffle you certainly mean it, but I'm more interested in how you got the brown lid to crack in the centre. There must be a story there as it doesn't look like a cut mark.
