DS3 Cabriolet Roof stuck

Unread post by BilW »

Hi, my 2018 DS3 Cabriolet Roof is stuck half way open!
Fuses seem OK in boot but had to replace a couple of weeks ago. Motor for roof got really hot and now doesn't work at all. Thinking I could need new Folding Roof Motors but can't seem to find these online anywhere.
Anyone got any suggestions? - Hoping it doesn't rain any time soon!
Thanks

Check in your handbook because I would have thought there will be an emergency manual closing method in the event of electrical failure? :)

I found this solution to manually close the roof on a mechanics advice site: :)

Dear customer,
I fully understand the frustration of having the roof of your Citroën DS3 Cabriolet stuck half open, especially when there are no previous signs of failure or warnings on the dashboard. Before attempting any manual intervention, I recommend you perform a basic system reset: disconnect the negative terminal of the battery for at least 20 minutes, as in some cases this is enough for the electrical system of the roof to reset and return to normal operation. If this does not work, there is a manual procedure to close the roof, although it is not always documented by the manufacturer. To do this, you will need to access the trunk and remove the cover of the compartment where the roof mechanism is housed; this is usually located behind the interior panels. Once exposed, locate the roof motor, which usually has a hex or Torx-type slot designed to allow manual locking in the event of electrical failure. Using a suitable tool (such as an Allen or Torx wrench), you will need to turn this mechanism clockwise calmly and without forcing, until the roof is completely closed. Next, be sure to properly lock the front roof latches into the windshield frame to ensure that it is sealed. It is a process that can be somewhat time consuming and require some force, but it is safe if done with patience. Avoid forcing the roof from the outside or attempting to move it by hand, as you could damage the rail system or hydraulic mechanism.

Good luck :-D

Motor hot after fuse replacement.... That's where I would start looking. If you weren't driving a Citroen I'd call in the seagulls.....

Yes I ask the stupid questions, because normally it is that simple.

It is possible that the fuses blew and the motor is hot because the roof mechanism is mechanically jammed.

If it is like the Pluriel it will be dirty cables/gear unit.

People oil them, which attracts more dirt...........which then clogs the gear unit with a paste/dirt mix and fills the cable "teeth"
