Peugeot 207 Rallye (2007) OEM+ Radio Upgrade

Unread post by e214vall »

Hello all, I am quite new to this community and come from Greece. I own a 2007 Peugeot 207 Rallye (same as a GT but without the sunroof). The vehicle comes with the standard RD4 radio and a Type A display (the one that only displays text and not graphics). I want to start upgrading my sound system to firstly get Bluetooth song streaming and secondly the best audio quality I can get with the factory configuration. How I plan to achieve that and how I plan to restrict my self from overspending? Firstly upgrade my headunit but only with Peugeot alternatives because I want to preserve the functionality of steering wheel controls (which from what I gather are either RD45 or RNEG1). Secondly upgrade the 6 factory speakers with better alternatives that fit to the original positions, so no amps or subwoofers or other fancy stuff, just quality parts for the original slots.
In this topic I want to discuss about the headunit and what I want from it and hopefully you can help me decide which one to get. I will start by saying that I am a huge fan of the original simple type A display, but from what I gather it is necessary to use the newer EMF-C OPA CEM1 display to get the RD45 radio working and get the bluetooth streaming I want. Many have done this and I know it is an easy upgrade. Why then consider the possibility of RNEG1 you ask? The only reason to go for it is if it can provide me with better sound quality for the speakers I plan to buy next. I will not be adding amps or subwoofers to my system, so if RNEG1 gives more power to the speakers, is of better quality or can benefit me in any other way regarding sound quality, I would consider it.
Let's assume that RNEG1 is indeed better than RD45 regarding sound quality. Then can i mount it at my car? Using either my current display or EMF-C OPA CEM1? I don't care about stuff like navigation or larger screens. Just bluetooth streaming and the best sound quality I can get with the above limitations.
I want your opinion, is what I want to do feasible? If the RNEG1 option is not possible, would I be able to use the RD45 with the original text display I currently have? I just don't like the graphics of the EMF-C OPA CEM1, they are plain bad imho.
Thanks for all the information you might provide, I want to know as much information as possible before buying anything.
