Xsara Picasso 1.6hdi bsi error

Unread post by C2GT0318 »

Hi all,

Have 2008 Xsara Picasso. Changed clutch and refitted and now car will not start.

I have plugged code reader in and have 1 error on bsi:

0712 - Permanent fault. De-icing lamp output short circuit to earth. Reset bsi but code still there

I have tried Google and get no results.

Any ideas please anyone🤞

I would not worry about this code, its very unusual not to have any fault codes in a BSI.
When you removed the gearbox did you disconnect the battery? If you did was the BSI allowed to fully power down before disconnecting it?

If you didn't disconnect the battery have you shorted the engine ECU casing against the positive jump point under the bonnet next to the ECU?
You would not believe the amount of times i have actually seen this happen when people have tried to cut corners & not disconnect the battery when taking the gearbox out of these.

Can you get comms with the engine ECU?
