Hi All
My 72 plt C4 10,000 miles locks when I walk away and unlocks when I walk back straight away but after around an hour it will not unlock I have to use the key.
Both keyfobs are the same one has had a new battery in,the other one was new 2 years ago and never used. Its under warranty also got extended warranty the main dealer is 30 miles away they can't take it in for 4 weeks, cannot tell me if the diagnostics are under warranty, cannot tell me if any required bits would be covered by the warranty and that I may have to pay the £170 diagnostic fee upfront also no courtesy car available
Any ideas
Garu

Re: Citroen 72 plate locking system
Is it possible that this is normal operation?
The fact it works normally at first suggests all the receivers & keys are OK. Is it maybe on a timed operation to turn it off? Im not overly familiar with this model.
The keyless access may sound like a good idea but it makes the car easier to steal using relay theft if the system is operational, many people are now deliberately turning it off.

Normal operation is as follows
Walk up to the car and it bleeps and unlocks
Walk away from the car and at around 3 metres it beeps and locks.
It's locking but not unlocking,

Re: Citroen 72 plate locking system
But am i understanding right that if you walk back to the car within a few minutes it will auto unlock?
Did it used to work normally?
Is this something that can be configured using the in car menus? a setting change for example?
Most manufacturers are now giving users the ability to change or turn this feature off for the reasons i mentioned above.

Re: Citroen 72 plate locking system
£170 is £50 more than our dealer charges for a diagnostic and even then they might not charge if nothing is found. If they find a fault is covered by a warranty claim they would not charge either.
We now have a car (Skoda) with keyless unlocking and I do not see the point of it, pressing a button on a remote is incredibly easy. I have turned it off since I can not leave the keys far enough away for it to not work and do not want to bother with the hassle of putting the keys in something other than a coat pocket.
