Hi. I have a 2014 plate Citroen C5 II TOURER (X7), which I bought last year. The SOS light was flashing in the head unit which I could ignore. I swapped it out for an NG4 head unit. I still see the SOS light flashing but now there is also a loud beeping noise that starts a couple of minutes after the engine has been started.
- Where is the telematics unit located on this model?
- How do I access and replace the telematics battery?
- Can the telematics unit be safely disconnected?
Are there any other possible causes for the SOS light and beeping? Thanks for any help!

You can't just swap these out! They must be configured to the vehicle using a diagnostic tool. They are both VIN coded (hence the beeps), but must also be configured correctly in the BSI for the appropriate Head Unit.
Post your VIN up so I can see what system you opriginally had.
Assuming you already had the NG4 originally, then it likely came with the Services Module buried deep in the dashboard that handles the emergency calling services and breakdown and geolocation in the event of an accident that triggers the airbags.

Hi GiveMeABreak, and thanks for your help. The original head unit was a RNEG2. Before the swap over, I did notice that the SOS light was flashing, but there was no beeping. The VIN is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff].

Re: 2014 C5 X7 Tourer - SOS Light & Beeping
So you originally had the RT6 system.
So the NG4 was a premium system at the time, but didn't support Bluetooth Music Streaming.
These are different systems and your vehicle has an independent Telematic Unit which works differently from the Services Module that is usually installed with the NG4. The vehicle is now likely confused and the NG4 won't work properly as it's designed to use the services module that your vehicle won't have and can't be easily installed.
So don't expect emergency calling to work via the buttons on the NG4 unit (SOS and Citroen Buttons). You may likely find there may be other BSI configuration options to be sent, but certainly the VIN will need coding to stop the beeping.

Thanks very much for your insight. I'm going to put the old unit back in. I swapped it because the CD player was not playing CDs very well but I may be able to deal with that after all.

So the RT6 can stream MP3 music from your phone, so that's another possibility, but should also be able to play MP3 files from a USB. So you can 'Rip' your music CDs to MP3 files using a PC and then copy the files to the USB, pop it in and that's another option for you.

Thanks for your help. I'll explore those music playing options after I put the original unit back in.
