There's a similar thing for motorbikers, but I think it triggers when things suddenly go very still 8-[

That makes sense...

Garmin ones detect accelerations or retardations of the wrong kind

If I had as many girlfriends as I have Garmin devices, I'd be very happy

Set mine off today too, but I had actually come off. Mrs W was in a cafe with no reception so some use that was! I have a rather good case of gravel rash all down my right side, a large lump on my hip, and a need for a new cycle helmet 🙄 not sure if I KO'd myself, but I was certainly a bit confused afterwards, and can't remember half of the ride home. Hmm. You'd have thought I'd have learnt by now, seemingly not!! I have a picture of the gravel rash, but it's not for polite company😜

Oh gosh! Poor you Richard  Happy to near noting too serious although gravel rash can be horrible

May all soon heal and all be good again :)

Speaking of helmets, mine's now 4 years old and popular wisdom says it's a year past its best before date.

Although for me, running just has the edge ;)

On this first day of 2025 I finally admit to myself I'm more a runner than a cyclist...

I witnessed absolute lunacy on a bike today. I was in a traffic queue waiting for a large tractor towing a big seeding/harrowing/ploughing trailor which had sharp blades protruding to the offside of the trailer. The tractor had to stop for a parked vehicle on his side allowing our queue to get through first. As I approached a chap slewed out round the tractor into our path, throwing his NAKED head to the right into our path to avoid the tip of a blade. He looked like a commuter with rucksack, thinning hair and glasses and is this evening lucky to be alive. I will interrogate my dashcam tomorrow and post a clip if I can find it!! #-o #-o

In the warm sunshine and dripping in Factor 50, it was great to get out for a little bike ride today :D

Not far and not fast as I'm still needing to take care and not push too hard and jeopardise my recovery.

I'm not at all religious but I do like a nice church - this one is particularly lovely :D

And it's true, riding a bike is a bit like riding a bike - you never forget how to ;)

Last evening I was one of the photographers at a local TT race meeting.

This one was originally massively over-exposed as I accidentally hit the exposure lock button on my camera whilst it was looking at the ground

A bit of post-processing magic has helped, although the sky remains washed out somewhat... Loving the rider's expression!

Soon, I hope I'll be fit enough to ride one of these events again :) The signs are good...
