Hmmm... Having had a load of experience of Dexion in my professional life it's not my go-to for making something like car ramps... OK for shelves but that's about it...

The holes make them lightweight I guess!!!

Yes seems an odd choice!
Sort of a "had a load of it" and a load of time on my hands before it'd seem the obvious solution to me!

As for the price, think I'd put similar money on a set of these:

Amazon hydraulic ramps

Ohh! I like those Matt :D Only problem is, I'm always nervous of driving up onto ramps... I have a decent set of Halfrauds ones but rarely use them due to my aforementioned nervousness.

The same as you on both counts, Jim!
Have ramps but even 20 years of using them I still don't like the drive up task!

I've been eyeing up these ramp + jack up platform things for a good while. Bulky to store and I'd think pretty heavy is main points against them.

You'd actually be better off investing in a decent trolley jack (not a Halfrauds special !) and jacking the car right up and bunging a pair of axle stands under it. A trolley jack is slightly more useful than a pair of lifting ramps that don't actually lift that much 8-[

Oh yes I agree a decent jack is more useful than the lifting ramps.

My jack is a Halfords model but a semi fancy high lift model. It was about £40 on the trade card and I'd buy another tomorrow, but sadly no longer available. They do a "high lift" model but it's a cost engineered shadow of my older model. Will find a picture and it's spec if of interest.

I have used ramps at end of the car and axle stands after the other, I'm more comfortable with a car up like this versus on four axle stands. Good say for removing full length of the exhaust and need access to near enough full length of the car.

You may have seen pics of my cars on the ramps at the bottom of my drive in front of the garage. With the front on the ramps and the back on the drive the car is actually level which is good for dipstick etc. I have a solid 3 ton trolly jack made by Sealey which cost over £100 18 years ago and is still doing stirling service.

I have issues driving onto the ramps with the downhill drive so I use ramp feeders to ease the incline change and save the front spoilers!!

I now have the electro-hydraulic jack which Jim and I both bought last year and I have to say it is brilliant!! :-D

I've currently got 'Helga' up in the air on four axle stands so I can go underneath on the creeper and inspect and Waxoyl various bits. Despite the fact it's as solid as a rock on them, I really don't feel comfortable underneath the car :?

Yes, almost every car seems to unable to cope with the approach angle needed for the ramps. I use a couple of short lengths of 8x3" timber as a lead into the ramps.

I thought the C5 was going to be ok, but even suspension on high, it's long front overhang would scrape the ramp.

No, I know exactly what you mean. I've had the (engine and gearbox -less) Coupe up on 4 stands and, well, I just don't like it!

Mind you, I've not tried two of the four stands being my "new" ones - actually very much not new, but a kind gift from a neighbour clearing out his garage. They are I think 5 tonnes rated and have big square foot print bases.

The lowest notch on them would I think be too high for your usual common car jack!

I knew a Helga once, I didn't feel comfortable under her either! :-D
