Darren,
Can you make up a crude test rig for the injectors ?
4 measuring tubes, ie measuring cylinders used in chemistry lab work, fit or hold injectors over tubes and watch the spray pattern and volume produced, over a timed period.

Re: Injectors misbehaving but trying to understand the numbers
I've pop tested the injectors that are currently in it with a vevor pop tester and a Chinese injector pulse generator since because I just didn't trust them. The spray pattern is fine but they were all opening around 2000 psi one was opening around 1300 psi it started leaking as well but I changed it out. I'm not sure but I think they are supposed to open between 2500 to 3000 psi. I think they are weak so I need to try the new ones which look really good. They look brand new.

Re: Injectors misbehaving but trying to understand the numbers
Ok so I have done some further research and apparently if your rail pressure is 225 let's say injectors should be popping around 3000 to 3500. So by that logic they are popping way too low. They could be cylinder washing all 4 by that logic. I am convinced now that none of the old sets I have are usable. I won't get to it this week as I am working all weekend. Trying get stuff off my desk.

Re: Injectors misbehaving but trying to understand the numbers
Finally changed out the injectors. No longer smoking at idle and fast idle. Running really smooth.i still have to code them in. The accelerator seems to be very sticky though goes down easy but very slow to return.

Re: Injectors misbehaving but trying to understand the numbers
Thanks Matt. Well I took the accelerator pedal off and cleaned it with copious amounts of contact cleaner. The pedal moves well now and she revs nicely. I'm pretty sure it is now working right. I have to do an abs sensor and put everything back together code injectors and then try and bring her for a run again and fingers and toes crossed.

Re: Injectors misbehaving but trying to understand the numbers
I coded in the injectors today and checked live data everything looks more like I would expect to see. Ranging between 9 and 20 ms so no major compensation going on. I need to do the abs sensor and change a leaking coolant clip hopefully tomorrow. Very wet here most of the day today so hopefully I'll get to it tomorrow.

Re: Injectors misbehaving but trying to understand the numbers
Hi Kenny, yes nearly there now. I have the abs sensor changed DTC cleared and the coolant sorted.. I have a leak on the window screen washer line that was damaged when the bonnet was lifted by the storm before Christmas. I discovered a slight leak on the sump plug yesterday but they are all easy fixes and a bit of tidying up and a good valet and I should be good to go. Hopefully all this information will help someone in the future.if you have loads of white smoke check injector correction values they should be between 1 and 30 ms

Re: Injectors misbehaving but trying to understand the numbers
I got the leak on the wiper washer hose fixed today so another job done. I'll work on the other bits in the evenings during the week. Hopefully I will be booking an NCT on Thursday or Friday.

Re: Injectors misbehaving but trying to understand the numbers
Is you wiper hose still that daft "ridged" stuff, or has it been changed in the past? I'd a leak in the rear ridged bit (where passes from Jody to boot lid) then twice in quick succession on the front - where passes body to bonnet then again nearer the jets. I binned a great length of it replaced with standard cheap clear stuff.

Re: Injectors misbehaving but trying to understand the numbers
Yeah still that corrugated crap. I just cut it and put a joiner in . It will do for the NCT, long term I would like to change all the washer hose for standard off the shelf stuff it may never happen as I am so time constrained with other stuff. I done something similar in the rear to what you did. it will do for now. My focus is to get it tested asap and get it on the road. I have a load of standard black wiper hose I just don't seem to have time to get anything done lately.

Re: Injectors misbehaving but trying to understand the numbers
Ok brought her for a spin drives ok no smoke . Power seems steady enough. Abs system faulty. C1331 fault code. I think it's the wheel bearing. It's right speed sensor signal fault according to topscan. I did smell burning rubber so I need to figure out what that is. She is sitting a bit low in the back. I think I had her up in the air at the front too long.

Darren,
Spraying everything to do with the suspension, may only required to be loosened off to work again. Obviously the dog bone on the rear being one area.

Re: Injectors misbehaving but trying to understand the numbers
I tried loads of Screwfix penetrating and rocking the car. Shocks are pretty badly corroded at the ends. I think they need changing probably because they were sitting so long. The rubbing was the drivers side rear sitting down on the tyre and the passenger side left is seized fully extended. Mine is actually steel sprung unfortunately so more prone to failure. There is a difference of nearly three inches front to back.
