Yep, very true and in a letter, totally unnecessary and shows poor composition. Against that, it's not unusual to see in a lot of classified documents where blank pages at the ends of sections are annotated 'This page intentionally left blank' to maintain the integrity of the overall document, particularly when the document is in the form of a book.

Also commonly seen in EMER publications (Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Regulations); the Haynes Manual for much British military and government hardware back in the day ;)

Meanwhile, graffiti seen on a Telecomms cabinet during setting up the Linford Wood parkrun this morning....

Can't really disagree with that! A good piece of advice :D

While I appreciate the use in classified documents Jim my thinking in this case is:
This page is part of the annual pension advice letter sent to every state pensioner at this time of year. The last reported figure of numbers is 12.9 million. How much ink is needed to print 12.9 million x 9 ie 1.161 billion words? What a waste!!!!

If that is from the DWP I fail to see where the NHS is involved.

Part of the reasoning behind that message is to allow for recipients to know that they have received all of the information sent them, and there are no pages missing (or had a faulty printer issue causing blank pages instead of pages with information).

Maybe it needed that extra page for 'some' recipients.

That could be dealt with by a simple "End of Message" on the previous page ! :)

Possibly Gibbo but then my suggestion above would be moved down accordingly in the cases where the page was used. I doubt if it would be the case though as it is a standard issue letter advising of the pension changes in the new tax year!

I have asked an ink cartridge manufacturer to estimate the ink use for 7 billion characters of Aerial size 12 out of curiosity to estimate the financial waste!! :-D

In search of a pub with a dartboard we found this place tonight:

No dartboard but the fish and chips were very tasty although a tad too expensive to make it a regular venue on our eating rosta :-D

I don't mind the "this page is intentionally blank" message, especially where things are printed two sided. Where it's a physical extra page though (Santander I'm looking at you) it does want me want to bash my head against the wall.

Back on the subject of random photography - here's my entry from a couple of days ago. I actually did a better job of framing it when I took the same photo on film. Normal things but from a bit of an unusual angle.

Would be helpful if the two bits of the building were symmetrical though! Mirror glazing is fun to mess around with though.

Managed to get out for a bit of fresh air this afternoon - with camera in hand. I'm learning how to drive it in full manual mode.

This did indeed make me smile :D Used an almost wide-open lens to take advantage of shallow depth of field to blur the background...

Rhubarb, rhubarb, rhubarb!
IMG_9382.JPG
Taken in my garden this morning... I need to cover it and protect it as it can be seen that some earlier growth was killed off by a frost a while back...

It also need to split up and divided. That patch is now well over 20 years old.

That, and the daffodils being well advanced and budding up shows our winter of discontent is nearly over :D

Jim, you might want to check what variant your daffodils are when they start blooming. The RHS had an item on the BBC Breakfast this week about daffodils, and how they want to track down any of the rare varieties.
