@ Wurlycorner "While the lack of carplay/android auto connectivity on the NG4 is *very* annoying, the thing that's *criminal* is lack of bluetooth streaming!"
I find that annoying as well lucky for me this is my wife's car so I don't drive it much a part from MOT's and when it's broken. I have a Megane 3, on an 11 plate and that bluetooth streams my amazon music well, although I do find the SD slot in the NG4 great and wish my meg had one, as for Meg it is either radio, 1x CD or stream there is an AUX port but that is just so much hassle to play through, it does not display tracks, does not move on using the steering media stalk and I fins the sound quality to be rather poor and you have to turn up to almost full blast to hear some tracks, roof off forget it, you just can't hear it well enough.

Re: NG4 Navidrive 3D Map Updates
The most annoying thing about lack of bluetooth streaming, is I can't see how it would need anything beyond a firm/software update, to provide that functionality. A
All the hardware required is already there because it already streams data/audio between the phone and the headunit just fine and it doesn't even need a button adding or relabelling, since 'media' is the button that switches between CD/SD/Aux etc. so it's just another option in that menu!

Re: NG4 Navidrive 3D Map Updates
But the hardware module has to support the Streaming protocol and although A2DP was released in 2003, it likely was too late for this to be implemented in Head Unit designs which are undertaken years before manufacture.
You simply cannot upgrade hardware via a software update - it has to support the protocol to start with.
However, you can just get a plug in USB adapter that will stream music from your phone to the adapter and then through the USB to the Head Unit. So an easy and cheap solution.

You see this is the great thing about Forums, stating the obvious that most of us just didn't think of, it never occurred to me a Bluetooth adaptor into the USB slot, cheers Marc an embarrassingly simple resolve.GiveMeABreak wrote: 11 Feb 2025, 17:08 However, you can just get a plug in USB adapter that will stream music from your phone to the adapter and then through the USB to the Head Unit. Genuinely, to get bluetooth streaming, just plugging one of these into the USB port?
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/315986152900
I'd have thought that would need a driver? Delighted if not!

Re: NG4 Navidrive 3D Map Updates
No, that won't work Iain, correct, it will need a driver and that's for a PC not an automotive vehicle system which uses a different OS.
I was referring to one of the adapter you can buy that do the intermediary that converts the Bluetooth streaming protocol from the phone to the adaptor which then converts this into a music file format that the vehicle can pick up from the USB as if it was playing a music like an MP3.
I never bothered with mine - I just used a 32Gb USB and stored all my albums on there.

Re: NG4 Navidrive 3D Map Updates
I've looked and can't actually find a bluetooth adapter that converts to streamed USB music file output - which would be a very interesting solution tbf - have you seen some of those then?
All I have found is the trad. USB powered bluetooth adapters that output either in FM for your stereo to tune into (I don't like those) or to aux jack/rca output (there's lots of these - couple of examples as below):
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/204988125210
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284526041061
Alternatively there's 'hard wired' 12v power to RCA versions:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/226347458104
Also, I'm wondering... Would one of these (into Port C on the NG4 main harness plug??) work? With the NG4 seeing it as a CD changer???
