Can you disable the "auto lighting" function completely when you go into the BSI?

Why bother even looking? Just don't turn the rotary light switch to the first position (auto) and leave it in the off position.

Not really - unless you want errors as this is linked to the same sensor for the rain sensitive wipers. As Paul says, just don't use the AUTO function - simple.

I think the windscreen was replaced without the "Rain Sensor". So maybe the system is confused?

The problem is that when you start the engine the headlights come on and sometimes the indicators blink.
In the park position it is good .
Just wondering if it is a fault with the switch?

You mean that there used to be a sensor on the windscreen and now there no longer is?

Where is it now? How long ago was this done? Did it coincide with the start of your problem?

Just maybe, in the past someone has changed the number off position from the light switch to 4 in the diagbox.
I did this once, the problem appears, that on auto, the indicators start flashing, but also the headlights.
The right number is 3 for the light switch.

Kees.

Kees,

this was done by the previous owner, glad we are getting somewhere.
I have read the Owner's Handbook and the car Dows not function as it should.

There's also an other possiblity, that a lamp bulb is change for a led lamp, without the can option, or special resistor.
Then the signal light on the dashboard keeps blinking.

Kees.

This won't be easy for us to diagnose if you suspect someone has been tampering with Diagbox unfortunately.

If your car has a rain and brightness sensor it should be fitted for the system to work correctly, so changing the configuration in the BSI is going to cause problems if kit is missing or as a result of someone trying to alter settings as a result of missing equipment.

Let me have the VIN and I can at least confirm if you did or didn't have a sensor.....Please post your VIN in full without spaces - it will be automatically masked from public view after submitting your post & will only be visible to staff.
