well today did not not go to plan.
We went down the road to donate some bits to St Lukes hospice and trying to get into car park found the car would not disengage the clutch.
Anyway parked up and did that part tried to reverse out and juddering not wanting to stop and then stalling, wonderful.
Got it moving by starting in gear and moved it to more out of the way part of the car park after realising the clutch had left the party
So have to wait just over 3hours so I am expecting a ticket from parking thieves.
So what would be a good price for a clutch change here in Sheffield.
Halfrauds want £2403.
That's more than the car is worth.
C4 Grand Picasso 2010.
C4 clutch change how much.

Check with a dealer, they usually have a fixed price for certain things and I am sure clutch replacement is among them and is likely to be bout half the price quoted by Halfords.
Also, if you explain the circumstances the parking company will probably waive the penalty charge.

Re: C4 clutch change how much.
Well looking up the parts points me to a standard clutch not a dual mass, which is a bonus.
If I can get it up my drive I will do it myself.
Sorry RichardW I should have put 5 speed manual.
Lets see how tomorrow goes.

Be careful Derekg, it is a massive job, especially lifting that huge gearbox on your back. It’s a lot of work, I think the repair time is about 8 to 9 hours!! One small mistake and the gearbox is back out again.
For peace of mind and self safety, Why not find a small independent Citroen specialist, they will fit O/E parts and give a full guarantee . I think it would be worth it.

Re: C4 clutch change how much.
Contacted a couple of places and here in Sheffield I use MotorMates on Penistone Road for my MOT's so phoned them and they gave me a quote of £765 inc vat.
Booked it in for Monday the 18th and they gave me a number for a recovery guy who collected it for me and delivered it to them
On dismantling they found that the thrust bearing had collapsed leaving the arm as the contact with the pressure plate which then had to be replaced.
Total bill £830-90 , not steep as Halfrauds by a long way.
I asked is this something that happens a lot with the thrust bearing and they said it was known about since 2005.
Anyway cars all good again so I am a happy man, my wife's even happier as she doesn't have to go to work by the bus.

Re: C4 clutch change how much.
That's what happened to ours (2008 1.6) at 90k miles - the release bearing just fell apart one day. Wife says it's making a funny noise, I managed to nurse it 30 miles to the garage, and then it totally let go on their ramp! Clutch itself was only about half worn. Don't sit with your foot on the clutch in traffic!!

Glad to see it’s all done. I think that is a very fair price, well worth it isn’t it.
