Re: Rusty Wrecks-Your Photos (Originals please)
Not noticeably rusty, but certainly an abandoned wreck:
A bit further on I found this dried out "creek crossing" - my guess is they've hit it too fast when it was wet and slippery, got sideways and rolled.
For context this road runs along the floodplain of the Darling River, from Menindee Lakes to Wilcannia. It's pretty remote, so looks like it hasn't so far been worthwhile for anyone to recover this car. There is a fortune in scrap metal accumulating in the small settlements of Central Australia - just not cost effective to collect it!
Here are a couple of other road hazards seen along the same road:
Being birds, emus are not active at night, and rarely seem to become roadkill. Kangaroos are nocturnal, with the results being all too predictable. This is (or was) a male Red Kangaroo - not as big as an emu, but they can do plenty of damage to a car.

Reminders of some happy days there Alec
I well recall the 'roo hazard when tonking along the Stuart Highway...
And all that scrap metal will be about for a long time too... Oxidising it back to nature will take a while in that climate...

Re: Rusty Wrecks-Your Photos (Originals please)
I like the Aussie place names, when I was out there we went to a lot of places, I'll have to look at the list.
Mooloolaba always pops into my head at first thought and the Kuranda railway, I have a niece in Coolangatta and another in Gympie.
Most though of my brother's extended family are in and around Brisbane.

Wilcannia is across the border in NSW - about 1,330 km from Brisbane. It's about 200 km East of Broken Hill.

NSW has it's share - there's Gulargambone (emphasise the "lar" & the "bone", so it's pronounced gLARgmBONE), and Quirindi (pronounced CoorINdeye).
The hard-to-pronounce ones are not all Aboriginal words - near Armidale we have Dumaresq (pronounced Jew-meric) - but there are a couple of beauties around my home town of Tenterfield.
Try your hand at pronouncing these - "Boonoo Boonoo" (there is also Goonoo Goonoo near Tamworth), and "Bookookoorara".

Re: Rusty Wrecks-Your Photos (Originals please)
This one is still slowly returning to nature...
I've been watching it doing this for a good ten years now and run past it regularly to check it's still extant...
Rumour has it there's an early Audi Quattro under the tarpaulin. Owner won't sell.
Looks like the VW has now gone way past the point of no return...
