An interesting place....for the Bridge itself, for Whorlton Lido a "swimming hole" on the River Tees long before "2024 cold water wild swimming" had been invented, and a miniature railway now long gone.
(edit: it seems it has been resurrected by volunteers and is now the "Thorpe light railway" of which more on "one for the Train Buffs thread" here )

While even the most benign rivers can still be dangerous, I have always been of the opinion that the Tees is a river full of menace. Maybe that's from visiting High Force when very young, and seeing and hearing its tremendous power and its peaty stained torrents cascading over the cliff edge. Cant remember swimming down at Whorlton Lido, but I do remember a visit there when fishermen were catching trout at regular intervals from the peaty water.

This is the thread for your bridge originals.

Over the Teviot on the "Nisbet Beat".

"Bridge, Nisbet, late 19th century. A 3-span bridge, with riveted bowed trusses, probably steel, on masonry piers with rounded cutwaters." ( https://canmore.org.uk/site/146142/nisbet-teviot-bridge )

Not much to go on there Mick other than the "style" of the Bridge which is reminiscent of a bridge at Taplow Buckinghamshire on the Great Western Main Line.

That's the sort of area I would imagine its in, not too far for the big black subaru to have a drive out to :-D

I'll give you a clue, I took that picture while reconnoitering the route that The Flying Scotsman would take on its run from London to Cambrodge and on to Great Yarmouth last year when Jim and I had intended to go and view it. Unfortunately, and due to potential protests, they changed the schedule at the last minute and ran it a day early so we missed it!! :-D

This may help!! :-D

Took a bit of finding couldn't quite make out the line code but turns out it is SBR Bridge No 24
SBR: SHEPRETH BRANCH
Which outs it at
https://abcrailwayguide.uk/bridge-sbr24 ... ridgeshire
What3words What3Words: evolving.snippet.huts
Meldreth Road Overline Bridge.

Without being able to decipher the line code from the picture, looked up "Hertfordshire" first on abcrailwayguide.uk without success, then Cambridgeshire and that came up with the goods for Bridge 24

A pont too far... Thilay France.

Why Thilay :?: ..... the curious need to have a peek in the Trivial Investigation thread to find out.

Nice bit of stonework.
