citroen berlingo 2006 lights in speedometer after removing key

Unread post by larsianer »

I have a problem with my berlingo 2006, all the lights in the speedometer lights up, and not any of the intruments works, the milage is only ---- and no km reading, i have changed the bsi, ecu, keybarrel, and the fusebox, and the speedometer, and the fault is still there, my guess is that a signal cable to the speedo is broken, anyone have a idea of what to check?

this is how the speedometer looks like, when am driving, and the hazzards is not working, nor do the central lock

What diagnostics to you run before changing parts? If so, what codes did you have?

Any non standard electrical equipment/accessories fitted to the car?
Does the Radio & multifunction display above the radio work normally?
Need a bit more background info on the fault? Did you buy the van with this fault? Did the fault appear after doing work on the car? After being jump started?
What other checks were done before deciding to replace all those parts?
I would possibly look at disconnecting all the other devices on the comfort VAN. Radio, multifunction display in case one of them is corrupting the network.
Do you have access to an oscilloscope? Next thing i would be looking at is scoping the Data & Data/ wires on the VAN bus & seeing what the signal looks like.

OK thats not ideal we dont know the full story, bear in mind there is always the possibility you were not told the real story from the person you got the van from

Citroen don t go by wire colours, they use wire codes printed along the length of the wire insulation every few CM.
You can pick up the VAN lines to scope either at the instrument panel 18 pin white connector pins 4 & 10 (wire codes 9004D & 9005D) or at he BSI 10 way black connector pins 8 & 10.
You should get a pattern like below, ideally with a 2 channel scope so you can see both at the same time, both signals should be a mirror image of each other.
