207SW battery specification

Unread post by RoosterBooster »

I'm looking to replace the battery in a 2013 207SW as I suspect the current battery is failing.
I believe the relevant UK reference number to be '027'.
A quick look on Euro Car Parts suggests several options, all at 63Ah but with CCAs ranging from 480 to 640.
Two questions
1) What was the OEM specification for a 207SW's battery (in terms of Ah and CCA)?
2) Is a larger CCA better than a smaller CCA?

If you still have the original battery it should have a label with its spec on it. If not you might need to post your VIN so it can be looked up.

You have not said what engine you have or if it has stop start or not?
Sometimes the tyre pressure label has the original battery spec on it.
When looking at CCA there are different standards of CCA. Eg DIN, SAE, JIS, EN etc. Most PSA batteries are EN spec.

Also if looking at Euro Car Parts dont be tempted/sucked in by the low price on their ‘Lion’ brand batteries, they are cheap for a reason.

The OEM battery is a L2D 640A 60AH.

The original quality OEM part number is: 1629085380, £197.64
Alternative Cheaper PSA battery, part: 1609232680, £119.38

(Just put any future requests on the official so I don't miss it).

My apologies ... it's a 1.6 HDi (code WE9HP)

As in the bottom line of the RH box in the photograph ... "640 EN". Good to know.
Thanks

Thanks. The information label on the door agrees with with 640A rating (photo in another post).
It's curious that a couple of motor factors are advising that their database indicates a lower 540A rating ... and indeed the current battery is rated at 540A.
Perhaps that explains why it is struggling as the weather turns colder!
I guess I'll look for a decent 640A battery, something like the Exide EA640, or the Yuasa YBX5027.

OK. I didn't think this was a parts request, but of course it is. My apologies. I'll know better next time.

I think the reason may be a mistake with the parts, as it does say 540A on the parts database, but the actual part number Citroen use points to the 640a battery, so I suspect a typo and why aftermarket have the incorrect lower spec one. Certainly get the best you can afford.

The possibility of typo errors always concerns me.
The advice here (and the evidence on the door label) means I'll be cracking open the cheque book for a decent 640A battery.
Thanks again.
