All Season Tyres For e-C4 - any experience?

Unread post by JT99 »

The Michelin e-Primacy tyres on my e-C4 are wearing a bit thin, and I'd prefer all season tyres to cope with the UK Winter (and Spring, Summer & Autumn....)

Goodyear Vector All season Gen-3 seem about the best choice (Michelin tyres crack and perish after about 3 years so Crossclimates are out).

Looking at the ratings- which unfortunately are self-certified, the Vectors have the same rolling resistance (and therefore economy) as the e-primacy, but 3dB more noise, which means twice as loud!
(You'd expect more noise from the block treads than the bands on the e-Primacy, but what difference does that 3dB make from the driving seat?)

Has anyone fitted them and can report what they are like to drive on?

Can't speak for the e-C4, but I've been using all-season 3 mountain peak tyres for years. I have used CrossClimates previously and currently have the Goodyear Vector 4 Season Gen-3 tyres on the rears and moved the Crossclimates to the front. When these need replacing in a few months, I'll replace the fronts with the same Goodyears .

I wanted to get an idea of how they compare with the Michelins, as the fronts are slipping about a bit on our chipping covered roads here. Won't use summer tyres ever again and not worth using winter tyres. Grip Control system also likes these in snow and ice.

I'm really pleased with them.

Thanks.

So you think the Vectors are Grippier than the CrossClimates?

I'm dithering again as I am now informed that Michelin have sorted the premature cracking problems. I may get the CrossClimates as they seem to be in stock (which may indicate that they are more popular, or least popular...)

I wasn't as impressed with the wear on the Crossclimates, but a lot of that will be with the front wheel drive and very poor roads here in the country, so that's why I wanted to compare the Goodyears as they are about the same price. Never had an issue with cracked tyres - apart from the original Bridgestone Turanzas that were fitted originally and those were horrendous - cracked in a year, so whipped them off for the Michelin X Climates and they were a huge improvement. We do very low mileage, but as said with twisty country roads, chippings everywhere and more holes than a bar of aero, there's nothing much we can do.
