DTC P15B3 error citroen c4 grand picasso 1.6

Hi guys,
last night u got an error on board saying " engine fault: have your vehicle repaired" ive put my obd II and got the error code which says
P15B3(00) Status: Test failed, Test failed (current drive cycle), Pending, Confirmed, Test failed since last DTC clear Click to search for description on the Internet
When i click it to take me on the internet it says this
"This code can mean that your engine management ECU software needs updating, so you'll need a dealer for that, as well as topping up the additive for which the engine ECU also needs intervention. So you may be better off booking it in for both operations"
I am not entirely sure what all this means

P15B3 can indeed mean an engine management software is required, along with a check on the particle filter additive and a top up if needed.

Modern vehicles can have more than 20 different ECUs and the number is increasing with all the new tech. But the BSI & Engine Management ECUs are the main two that can often require a software update to fix certain issues as detected by the global dealer network.

I wouldn't worry about a software update, get the additive refilled and the level reset, and only then if the error doesn't away, worry about the software update. It seems unlikely to me an 8 or so year old car is suddenly going to throw a code for a software update....

No, you can't download it yourself - it needs to be connected via Diagbox in internet connected mode with dealer credentials.

The technical document refers to this vehicle where "Lighting of the diagnostic warning lamp - In the presence of one or more of the following fault code(s) P1446, P1446 21, P15B3, P15B3 00"

I should of mentioned that the software update can apply where the vehicle has covered les than 80k KMs (50k Miles) and can involve software updates of both the Engine ECU and the GFearbox ECU (where relevant).

How safe its to drive for couple of days untill i manage to refill it?

It will be fine - but the amount of additive is only estimated, not physically measured, so it's telling you it thinks it's below a threshold and needs topping up. Because of this being an estimate, there's no actual way of determining the exact level remaining without physically removing and draining the tank and measuring the content.

I just looked under the car and i found this tank. This is which one i have to refill right? And what's the difference between pat additive and the dpf additive? And next question which of that too i had to put? Cant find in manual book
