Thanks Pete I always thought it was just a posh name for reed valves on the inlet ports... My memory was playing tricks on me; something it's doing more and more these days

My Elsie was a complete one off.. Started life as a 250 then got 350 barrels and head but not off an LC, they are 2 separate cylinders, mine was off a TZ350 which was the race version, single piston ring and both cylinders as 1 unit. The carbs were 30mm Amals off a Norton rotary, eccentrically bored out (to keep the bottom of the venturi in the same place) to 34mm with tuned length cut down Fairy Liquid bottles (un filtered) as intakes. I did 0-118 in 11.8 seconds at The Bulldog Bash 1/4 mile 'run what you brung' in about 1990/1. It would live with almost anything in the day up to a ton, power wheelie in 3rd (no clutch required just a pull) and do a ton in 4th. Which is why, after owning a sedate Z250 prior, at 18 I fell off 3 times in the first month.

Forgot to mention, which was why I replied regarding reed valves, The 350 TZ doesn't have them. Reed valves are to give a stable tickover by getting rid of the spit back on road bikes, so mine had a TZ750 reed block and valves alu welded to the TZ350 barrels

At the time I went with my mate on the back of his CB400(?) - I hadn't passed my test at that point
My first bike was an MTX125 which I used to trail ride with my mate - him on his power valved DT125..... which made it all but unusable on snowy lanes
After that was a mid-90s CB500, and after that my current ride - a 1999 V-F-R800 owned from new.

VFR**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff], injected version? Mate had 2 750's, bullet proof. Although I prefer Kwaks for their lines, older ones, Hondas are superb. Had a Blackbird, carb version, ballistic sofa and the build quality is was out of this world

The 800 is an Fi-x RC46 injected.... still under 30k miles Pretty good condition I had the choice of the V-F-R or Blackbird when I bought mine - they were both the same price, but I opted for the V-F-R. I also nearly got a Firestorm at the time as well - purely as I had one as a loaner whilst my bike was in for warranty work. I came back to the shop grinning from ear to ear I was offered a V-F-R 750 from a mate - ultra low mileage and a pleasant dark metallic purple.... but how many motorbikes does one person need ? <don't answer that.... another mate of mine has over 30 of them >

This caught my eye but maybe not my most in focus camera work. Still not sure what make and model it is but it did have an L-plate on the back and it clearly says V125. Unfamiliar with the tank badge.

Firestorms bring grins. My mate with V FR750 pretended he wanted one from a local bike shop. 3 of us went out and ragged it. Burn outs, wheelies (all on private roads you know). Got back to the shop and he said it's not for him. 'We have another Demo here, a V FR800' Nah he said, demos get ragged
