I fully endorse driving for pleasure as and when you can :)
Some members may have seen this Falcon Gallery here viewtopic.php?p=806317#p806317 That is an example of what I classify as a subset of the general motoring for pleasure universe.
The randomly generated destination.

In short....having had a brief conversation with our postman about dolphins as we were just setting off I told him that we were heading for the coast Amble/Druridge Bay/Cresswell/Blyth as there had been a lot of Dolphin activity the previous day. He happened to mention that the last time he had seen dolphins was up at St Abbs in Scotland where he used to go scuba diving. I said that's a bit far for today, but we had been there many times.

That must have been in my head because on some form of "unconscious pilot" I missed the normal turning to head to our intended destination, was on the "wrong road" heading North, and we did end up in St Abbs :-D

Furthermore never having seen dolphins at St Abbs, the gallery shows in very fuzzy photo's that the dolphin spotting bullseye fortuitously hit.

Reading that post Neil caused me to think of what people actually mean by 'motoring for pleasure'. It seems to me that there are two distinct interpretations of the term, firstly, as so superbly illustrated in that last post, the pleasure of motoring through beautiful countryside to a 'Nice place to stop off at' and secondly, perhaps better described as 'driving for pleasure', the enjoyment obtained by the satisfying feeling of total control of the vehicle regardless of the circumstances. It is the second variety that I indulge in and hence my 'drives for pleasure' tend to include challenges of various types rather than destinations to visit!! Just saying :-D

While I enjoy the driving I must have a purpose or destination to justify it.
These days it is usually a drive to Lidl.

Coming up is brother's birthday so a drive to Whitby on the cards. Missed it last year as the car had gone on holiday with my youngest son. Brother's birthday present still here.

I just enjoy the pleasure of a nice drive out in Bluebell on a sunny day around pretty countryside with no particular destination in mind... Made up on the fly as it were... A bit like I do my bike rides unless I'm training for something...

The Micra on tour. Ticking over the 79,000 mile mark with its fresh MOT, and continuing good service. Deserved a little treat over Hartside/Honister/Newlands and Kirkstone passes :-D

Not the capacity of Matt's Trailer, or Citrojim's Picasso featured recently in workman-like duties, the BB Micra returned to timber wagon mode today, 20 Fence boards on board. Nice trip to get them straight from the sawmill.

I always think the BB Micra in timber wagon mode, makes a nice colourful chalk drawing with just a touch of abstractness.

For a little Micra, that's a commendable load Neil :)

I should have got a photo of Bluebell loaded up with bedding and other random household items after my last IKEA visit...

One thing I've never bought in IKEA ids a box of tea-lights

 Yes, I find they make the tea taste a bit waxy... Their meatballs are good though Steve, that makes up for it...

I'll agree on that, although I generally get the FarmFoods clones as a trip to IKEA is further and usually expensive.

The meatballs always reminded me of sheep droppings - probably to do with my feelings about the shop!! :-D

Ahh but there's no substitute for genuine IKEA meatballs surely? A visit to their in-store cafe is always a highlight for me. Meatballs for lunch followed by Daim Bar Cake for pudding is simply magical...

Join IKEA Family and get free tea and coffee along with half-price lunch on Fridays :) And the icing on the cake is the play area in the middle of the cafe :D

Mick, just seen your reply... Those must be some very seriously constipated sheep - or else very big ones

Used to love IKEA, smelled of Sweden and was quiet. Now they have the dreadful music on, as most other shops have adopted. Fortunately not Lidl though.
Wandered into ASDA yesterday. Big mistake. BIG!

Our big ASDA is right next to our IKEA... Hated it last time I went in there. I rarely stray from Tesco.
