KirkHarle

Capability Brown, he of parkland, trees and gardens of the Country piles of the very well-heeled cut his teeth round here.
You can read the various info about him as you might expect, but above all Kirkharle is an excellent place for coffee and cake and more, outside on a nice day or inside, and a stroll round the lake or up through the woods and back by the church. Bit of an ornithological visit yesterday. Always armed these days with the free "Merlin" app, Listens for bird song and identifies the bird.

Not many of the assembled pubilc would have noticed the great ornithological joy, being that there is a colony of Tree Sparrows nesting in the walls. Some may have wondered whats that bloke taking pictures of the wall for :?: These little fellows are uncommon and certainly rarer than they were. Their Chestnut Caps distingish them from the more common house sparrow.

You may recall the vicinity of Lynemouth Power Station, is not one of the most attractive places on the Northumberland coast, wasteland of former industry and an orange river tainted with the output of former mineworkings...but just beyond the fence if you keep your eyes open this you might just be rewarded.
Newbiggin Dolphin Watch report Today 06:28
Dolphins heading south now at Lynemouth power station very close in feeding counted 15 but could be more 06.28 10/7/24
The location...no dolphins in the pic when we had our visit a couple of weeks ago.

Very highly recommended :D

We went strictly for the massive (and hugely enjoyed) adventure play area. There's a lot more to the park than just that...

A little Gallery from St Abbs, Scottish Borders, and a fortituous bullseye on the Dolphin spotting front.

Better with the naked eye and better capured with a video. Still photography hampered by the sunlight on the display screen making focussing in dificult, and dolphins do go under the water and pop out at random times. Suffice to say there were about 5 dolphins in a group following, alongside and in front of that boat breaching the surface on many occasions. Middle top row and bottom right have captured a bit of out of focus dolphin, best we could do with the photographic equipment we had :-D Probably about 500M off shore.

Nice to see that men can now be disposed off discretely and hygienically.

I have seen one locally which is static, not even an engine, but that one had a radiator, may even have detected a small amount of warmth and "smell" coming from it but didn't crawl underneath to see if it had an engine, and it had a valid reg plate :-D

I dont think many travellers up and down the A1 will though. Its about a 8 mile detour there and back from the A1 down to a beautiful spot on the coast, but most travellers will just either plough on to an anonymous motorway services, or grab a supermarket picnic. For the smell the flowers traveller, a nice detour.
Had a poke around the J7 today,

What's the (remains of) structure in the top left of the group of six photos Neil? It looks a bit like it once could have been part of a viaduct...
