Plenty of old cars to view as well as the story of the probably long forgotten Motorrail service. Anyone ever use it in its heyday

In all of the FCF's entire history, and not before time, this is the first ever post about

Tugs!

Arises out of watching the river traffic comings and goings down at Tynemouth waiting for the Galleon Andalucia to make its entrance on Monday. Two large car carriers the Mermaid Ace, and the Aquarius Ace arriving and departing from the Tyne Car Terminal required the assistance of the Tyne Tugs.

No apologies a full 17 minutes, this is an excellent little film. The story allowed to be told by the crew, no put-on accents, clear as day to me and hopefully not too hard to pick up for others. Personally I like the musical background to some of the footage.

For completeness Volvo have some of their eggs in the biofuel basket, in terms of developing trucks with the capability of running on a variety of fuels from eg Biodiesel B100, Hydrated Vegetable Oil HV100, and Bio Gas,

There were Volvo busses operating in Gothenburg in the seventies fuelled by methanol produced from wood chippings, waste from the sawmills.

There are now Volvo busses operating in Borås that run on biofuel produced from domestic waste, that also in part runs the towns electricity generating station that uses the excess heat from that piped throughout the town to provide heating and hot water to most properties at very low cost to the consumer. That has been running since the late fifties.

Its been a while, but appropriately a continuation of the "Swedish" flavour of the previoius couple of posts and a question to be posed

Does Stockholm have the most beautiful Underground System in the World. ?

Only been on the London Underground and the T&W Metro, skipped the Stockholm one but that was in the seventies and I expect it wasn't as pretty then.

Arguably the Moscow underground is the most impressive.

If you took the trouble to watch that video, the rest of the world has some catching up to do to get anywhere near the Moscow Underground in visual appeal architectural and artistic opulence, spaciousness, cleanliness, efficiency, and even design of the rolling stock. The busiest too outside of Asia. Ride anywhere for 50p equivalent. Obviously in the video not a hint of vandalism/graffitti or general litter and filth.

Even the rolling stock has a clear uncluttered look and you can walk through the entire train from front to back
