John, Not spottting the obvious, but if you had to put 1¼ litres in, there must be a leak...the fluid is not like engine oil on a drive, I only noticed my rack failure because I always parked my car in the same bay at work and it was raining. Initially I thought fuel leak.jgra1 wrote: 27 Nov 2023, 09:18 hi all, before I start dismantling the car in the middle of winter, just after more thoughts really.
Fluid level : after adding 1.5L on Saturday, and now the car appears to very slowly rise and fall (8 mins! one way), the fluid level is correct on lowest setting, with engine running, after the tank spewed about 250cc's out. Are we happy that the fluid level is ok?
............
assuming the car does lose some LDS, is a leak the cause of my isses this weekend do we think?
John
Sorry to say but you're going to have to get your overalls on.
I'd start steering rack input shafts, easier to see from inside the cabin after removing the grommet. Then both front legs, then remove the undertray as the righthand catches quite a bit from resevior and pump..... Then.....
Anyone else willing to add?
