I think there is a Meccano museum in Henley-on-Thames.

Re: On your Bike
Clearly this chap needed some help from The Big Bang's Sheldon Cooper - the world's leading expert on string theory!!

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Re: On your Bike
For the first time in years, it seems, I went out for a ride on my bike
I needed to check I still could. Seems I can!
An absolutely gorgeous day... Not far off freezing though but in my full winter kit I barely noticed... Warm as toast

Nice one Jim!
Was very picturesque here with the frost / snow on the trees, but it was coooold! Garmin says below freezing all the way round, and down to -5. Just about thawed out!

Re: On your Bike
Today I finally got out on my bike for a decent'ish distance (35 miles). Not a huge distance by my standards but brutal in the surprisingly strong wind and not helped by having lost a lot of my cycling fitness having not ridden much these past few months and concentrating on running...
Despite my shortcomings and the wind along with a little rain, it was good
I'm the TT Secretary for Team MK, a local bike club that focuses on racing. My job is to plan and execute a program of 20 TT (Time Trial) road races between April and August. I've planned the event calendar, have received approval from our governing body and now I have to gain the approval of two local police forces to run the events...
This is not proving easy. I have had to resort to doing an on-line enquiry asking both Thames Valley and the Bedfordshire forces to whom I should liaise with on this matter. No reply for several days and today I receive this in my official inbox:
I was somewhat staggered to see this enquiry was dealt with by someone in the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police for an enquiry from Buckinghamshire :surprised: Not even by Thames Valley!
I'm wondering what force might respond to my parallel enquiry to Bedfordshire police? My money is on the Northumberland force

I find it all a bit bizarre

Re: On your Bike
I made 3k miles - just. Chain had other ideas and snapped on Weds with120k to go. Needed 2 repair links to fix it, leaving only 1 spare...another breakage this morning with 20k to go meant a roadside repair with the last remaining link...rode the last bit carefully! Had a pair of gloves in my saddlebag, but they turned out to have rotted
Now to order new parts and do an overhaul! 4k miles next year...? maybe
