Except it started snowing and I closed the window and told the examiner that I would use the electric indicators while it was snowing.
No reaction.
Passed first time though.

Well done. The first tester who failed me was soon afterward jailed for 'driving test conspiracy' While I was waiting for my second test the Suez crisis erupted resulting in a fuel shortage and rationing, driving tests were suspended but if you had a provisional license you were allowed to drive unaccompanied, I did, so I did. They couldn't really fail you after that.

Did a bit of Tourist information guiding for a biking couple heading up to do the North Coast 500 after staying overnight in Northumberland. Everything packed neatly away in the various co-ordinated panniers on their BMW motorcycle.

This spot this morning at the Drift, on the other hand has a delicious refreshing chatty-ness about it, and what's more it very much looks like a brown canvas haversack. When was the last time you literally saw an old school haversack. In my day they came in either brown or air-force blue which was always my personal choice. People would paint things on the flap for a bit of individuality again of varying degrees of chatty-ness mostly band-names or football teams.

You can still buy it Peter, but many of its former primary uses have now faded into obscurity.

This is the stuff I was using, usually have some lying around the place for tracing as I enjoy painting, but haven't taught myself to be good at drawing.

Years since I've used carbon paper... Once upon a time it was everywhere and indispensable...

Amazed it's still available...

I remember during my GPO days we had various forms in use which were all supplied in pre-printed books with varying number of copies in each form set. eg Fitter's workbooks would have three copies of each form, one for the customer, one for the office and one that stayed in the book as the engineer's record. If a form set had four sheets then the book was supplied with four carbon paper pages at the back. You would use three for each job and the fourth would be a spare for use in the event of loss or damage to one of the originals. It worked perfectly well so yet another victim of unnecessary modernisation as the computer age dawned!!
