I managed to look through 1/3 of the loft boxes this morning and I have come up with three more for my AA collection: a 1962 handbook, my old member's key and da daa The AA Book of the Road!! :-D
The books and the key

They also produced a road atlas called “The AA Book Of The Road” where the right hand edge of the pages folded over with the map on both side of the fold, it made it easy to follow the road onto the next page. I think it was one of the best maps available at the time.

..and the "AA Book of the Road" 50 points go to Mick with an attic rummage...excellent effort well done :-D Some decent pics too as a reminder for those who used to have one. Does it have the birds/flowers/butterflies etc or did I just imagine that bit! Has a bit of local info on each of the pages on the flap too.

It does indeed Neil, your memory has not deceived you. In fact the section called Roadside Recognition covers many subjects and a few examples are shown below:
Roadside recognition - The start of the section
Roadside recognition - The start of the section
Birds - 8 pages
Birds - 8 pages
Butterflies - just these
Butterflies - just these
Freshwater life - just these
Freshwater life - just these
Minerals, rocks and stones -8 pages
Minerals, rocks and stones -8 pages
Wild Flowers - 10 pages
Wild Flowers - 10 pages
In addition there are sections on the sea shore, shells, wild mammals, farm animals, architecture, trees and shrubs, fungii, fruits and nuts, reptiles, first aid and The Law and the Motorist!!

I shall keep it in the study for easy reference from now on! :-D

60 points for an original photo of the rectangular AA badge on a vehicle and
100 points if that rectangular badge carries the words AA Relay.
I can still offer the 100 AA relay badge points, and maybe points for a "not-at-a-car show" genuine on the road or in the car park spot of a valid AA badge of any shape or size.

That was a lovely car, much better than the C5 - apart from the ride.

The ride did let the 406 down a bit Peter, I had one for a short while after a couple of 405s and I always felt the 405 rode better.

Having said that, the 406 estate has been quite a survivor... I rarely see any saloons these days but I know of several estates hanging on in daily use, albeit a bit scruffy now...

I don't think the ride on the 406 was bad Jim, just not as good as the C5, but in comparison with the 406 the C5 is a nightmare to maintain. I think the 406 was probably the best car Peugeot made for reliability, at least the 2.0. hdi manual, it also has the best headlights I have had on any vehicle. :-D I did have a 405 diesel estate but it was a long time ago but I don't remember much about it now I think I got my first CX25 DTR estate after that and it blew everything else out of the water. 8-)

No, it wasn't bad Peter, just not as good as the 405 and way, way below the Xantia... Nowhere near as bad as the worst riding cat I ever had the displeasure to own - a Fraud Sierra... Bloody awful, especially when towing a caravan...

Swapped it for a MK III Poxhall Chavalier and it was an order of magnitude better in every way... Possibly the best thing to ever come out of Luton

Nice collection Mick.

My dad had this, and a couple of touring guides with suggested trips which I used to enjoy flicking through and no doubt storing up some decent GB geographical knowledge for forthcoming University Challenge Questions. :-D
I see AA even involved "St Michael" in marketing the touring guide. :-D

As Jim was using up his battery capturing all the interesting vehicles today I decided to concentrate on badges and badge bars. I think this little collection should get me some points as it does include a couple of the elusives Neil referred to: :-D
