Trivia avalanche with another link from the article in the "not a lot of people know that" category.

Answers the Questions, Why was radio Caroline named Radio Caroline and why was Radio Jackie named Radio Jackie.

I could leave it to the curious to click the link and find out if they want but here's the spoonfeed...
Link http://radio.eric.tripod.com/radio_jackie.htm
Radio Caroline had been named after Caroline Kennedy. When the Jackie organisation were setting up their station, they chose the name Jackie after Caroline's mother.

What story links to this image :?:

The obvious one is that the Car is from Finland, and it has travelled to Northumberland. I would say that its quite an unusual appearer in Northumberland. Steady stream of visitors from the Netherlands and Germany with the Newcastle/Amsterdam Ferry route but cant recall seeing too many Finnish plates.

As you might expect wiki has a page on "Vehicle Registration Plates of Finland", and our ZNV-537, fits nicely into the "normal" pattern, but little to be deciphered from the letters/numbers.
Finnish vehicle registration plates usually carry three letters and three numbers separated with a dash (e.g. ABC-123)
Since 1989 the code has no connection with the geographic location.
The name Nelipyörä on the plate is a car dealership as you might expect operating in these locations.

So for a purely random bit of interest, and hands up if you know a single settlement in Finland other than Helsinki, there is bound to be some interesting image about one of those locations to add to random Finland day on the FCF!

The first "town" on the car dealership list is Lahti, and one of its features is the Sibelius Hall.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sibelius_Hall
The Sibelius Hall (Finnish: Sibeliustalo) is a concert hall in Lahti, Finland, named after the composer Jean Sibelius. The concert hall was completed in 2000. Architects Kimmo Lintula and Hannu Tikka designed the hall, which is made out of glulam. The acoustics were engineered by Artec Consultants, New York. Its acoustics are one of its strongest points, while the architecture follows the Scandinavian tradition of sophisticated design.

TOTH is right Mick, so most people know 2 towns in Finland without realising it.

Got to be worth the admission money on the Trivia Investigation Thread, Nokia Toilet Paper

Not sure is Sibelius has debuted on the PE Jukebox, but I do think somewhere in the Pickled Egg Pages the theme for "This Week" made an apperance, which is also from the plume kynä of Jean Sibelius.

An easy one.
It's been name checked by Pet Shop Boys in their song West End Girls, and features in various other places..... but where is Finland Station..... and what's the story behind its 'ownership' ?

In the lyrics to the song the reliable source of Smooth Radio has this to say...
The lyric 'From Lake Geneva to the Finland Station', refers to the train route taken by Vladimir Lenin while being smuggled by the Germans to Russia during World War I. It is assumed that the lyric was inspired by the book To the Finland Station by Edmund Wilson.
One of those "Finland Town" Car Dealer locations was described by Wiki as and important rail route to St Petersburg.
and the Finland Station is in Saint Petersburg.

Wiki covers its "Ownership" here
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finland_Station
Finland Station was built by Finnish State Railways as the eastern terminus of the Riihimäki–Saint Petersburg railway. It was designed by Swedish architects and opened in 1870. The station formerly contained a special pavilion for Russian royalty.

The station was owned and operated by Finnish Railways until early 1918, when the last train, carrying station personnel and equipment, as well as some of the last Finns escaping revolutionary Russia, left for Finland. Later, ownership of the station was exchanged for Russian property in Finland, including the Alexander Theatre in Helsinki.

Top trivia coming right up.........

A comment in the Finland song comments section led me to this gem.

"As of March 2023, Finland has been ranked the happiest country in the world six times in a row."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Happiness_Report

Top that if you can. :-D

This would be the type of train formerly whizzing to St Petersburg from Helsinki and calling at Lahti (of Car Dealership fame). Nice name for something fast and reliable....
